16/09/2010 (Schloss Umkirch) Died HRH Friedrich Wilhelm, Fürst von Hohenzollern, Bailiff Grand Cross of the Order decorated with the Collar

His Royal Highness Friedrich Wilhelm, Fürst von Hohenzollern, Bailiff Grand Cross of the Order decorated with the Collar, has died on 16 September 2010 at the age of 86 at his home, Schloss Umkirch.

His Royal Highness was the head of the Princely House of Hohenzollern, the senior line of the family that ruled Brandenburg, Prussia and the German Empire, and was born in 1924 the son of Friedrich, Fürst von Hohenzollern (1891-1965) and Princess Margarete of Saxony (1900-1962). His grandfather, Wilhelm, Fürst von Hohenzollern (1864-1927) was married firstly to Princess Teresa of the Two Sicilies (1867-1909), eldest daughter of the Count of Caserta, Head of the Two Sicilies Royal House and Grand Master of the Constantinian Order and sister of Infante and Prince Carlo, grandfather of HRH Infante don Carlos, our present Grand Master. Fürst Friedrich Wilhelm was a knight of the Golden Fleece, of the Black Eagle of Prussia, of Saint Hubert of Bavaria, of the Rue Crown of Saxony and a Bailiff Grand Cross of Honour and Devotion of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. He is succeeded by his eldest son, Karl Friedrich, born in 1952.
