TRH the Grand Master and the Duchess of Calabria

 

A Solemn Mass of Action and Grace and a Sung Te Deum to celebrate the succession of HRH the Infante D. Carlos, Duke of Calabria, as Grand Master of the Order and Head of the Royal House of the Two Sicilies was celebrated at the Parroquia Mayor de Santa Ana, Barcelona, on 9 April 2005. The Grand Master was accompanied by HRH the Duchess of Calabria.

The celebrant was His Excellency the Most Reverend Monsignor Jaume Traserra, Bishop of Solsona, Vice Grand Prior, assisted by the Prior of the Delegation of the Principality of Catalonia His Excellency the Most Reverend Father Jorge Farre y Muro. Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Master and the Duchess of Calabria entered the Church to the Royal March of Spain, and the choir and soloists sang the Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus and Agnus Dei from the Coronation Mass by W. A. Mozart; the choir also sang the Ave Verum Corpus (Mozart), Bist du mei mir (J. S. Bach), and the Te Deum (Mozart, K 141). His Excellency the Vice-Grand Prior preached the homily (link).

The Royal Deputation was represented by the Vice-Grand Prefect His Excellency D. Carlos Fitz-James Stuart y Martínez de Irujo, Duke of Huescar, the Grand Chancellor Ambassador D. Carlos Abella, the Vice-Grand Chancellor Guy Stair Sainty, and the President of the Italian Commission, Duke D. Diego Vargas Machuca, Marquess of Valtolla and Count of Urgell, and the Delegate of the Principality of Catalonia, D. Francesc-Xavier Montesa (who gave an address). The Secretary-General of the Italian Commission, Mr Aubrey Westinghouse and the Secretary of the British Association, D. Victor Franco de Baux de Marignane were also present.
